The position is in Sandvik’s Turku site which is the main product development and manufacturing center for our Load and Haul equipment. Our mission is to advance the world through engineering. Do you share our mission? Partial remote work is possible in the role, however occasional travel and presence is required in our division headquarters in Turku.
Your primary areas of responsibility
As a Data Engineer in the Electric Powertrain Technology team, you work with the measurement data from loaders and dump trucks with electric powertrain. You are motivated to learn how the dump trucks and loaders operate in detail and in a larger high-level scope. Our machines work in underground mines in harsh environment, so the reliability, safety and serviceability must be in high level in all possible cases.
Your main responsibilities include:
- Collecting data from loaders and dump trucks with electric powertrain to be used for R&D purposes.
- Defining measurement needs and methods.
- Choosing measurement devices and initialising them when needed.
- Converting raw data to specific format, depending on case.
- Data preprocessing and analysing of data, depending on skills.
- Forwarding pre-processed data to technology team for detailed analysis.
- Developing data analysis methods.
- Following trends from field data and communicating any found issues to technology experts.
Your background and what we find important.
- A suitable degree in engineering.
- Basics level programming skills are required.
- Knowledge of MATLAB, CAN bus and/or Python are seen as an advantage.
- Knowledge of measurement devices, data collecting and/or measurement technology is seen as an advantage.
- Knowledge of full electric or hybrid machine systems are seen as a benefit.
- Fluent communication skills in English and Finnish.
- Proactive, systematic work approach.
- Excellent problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work well in a multicultural stakeholder environment.
- Comfortable meeting challenging targets driven by project deadlines.
- Willingness to travel for projects, including visits to underground mines.
