We are looking for a Forestry Data Analyst to support our Smart Forestry unit's Data as a Service team's service implementation.
The analyst's work focuses on supporting the implementation of forest modeling, forest carbon, forest valuation and remote sensing projects. You will be responsible for conducting forest modelling work for a range of forest types, including semi-natural boreal forests as well as tropical plantation forests. The work includes analyzing forestry data and calculating new data using AFRY Smart Forestry's proprietary software solutions. While modelling is to a large extent automated in the company's proprietary software, manual work consists of sorting and analyzing the received results and identifying forestry-specific issues.
You will be providing services in English language for international clients. It will be considered as an advantage if you can perform assignments in Finnish language for Finnish clients.
The work can be conducted primarily remotely or in AFRY's Vantaa office. The work includes office workdays in Vantaa on an irregular basis.
Qualifications
The person we are looking for has:
- Master's degree in forestry with a focus on forest resources and forest management, or equivalent
- Good MS Office and GIS skills (e.g. QGIS or ArcGIS) and an interest in learning new software -- ability to read and/or write code is considered as major advantage
- Ideally 1-3 years of work experience in forestry
- Proficiency in English, Finnish is considered as a plus
It is also considered as an advantage if you have:
- Knowledge of forest carbon dynamics
- Experience in forest valuations
- Experience in remote sensing in forestry
- Experience in the consulting business
Indicative salary range is between 3 800 to 4 400 €, depending on skills and experience.
