We are currently looking for an experienced HSE Manager to be responsible for the health, safety, and environmental development of our Pulp and Energy business line locations in Finland. We are seeking a dynamic individual to join our team as an HSE Manager at Valmet's manufacturing sites in Tampere (Automiehenkatu) and Lapua, as well as the Tampere pilot plant.
As a key player in our organization, you will work collaboratively with our existing HSE team to ensure the highest standards of health, safety, and environmental management.
You will report directly to the head of the Finnish HSE team, and in matrix, especially to the Global HSE Manager in Pulp and Energy Business Line (P&E BL) and the locations management . The main responsibility is to implement and maintain an effective HSE operating model and to develop a safety culture to support our business goals. In addition, you will be responsible for overseeing compliance with laws and regulations, as well as meeting customers' and Valmet's HSE requirements in the locations.
Your main responsibilities are
- Support and guide supervisors and the entire personnel in the development of safety culture and HSE management
- Manage and deliver the provision of effective HSE services and support for all P&E employees in Finland and coordinate the support for other locations
- Act as a point of contact for internal stakeholders regarding P&E BL HSE operations in Finland
- Act as a local HSE contact for external stakeholders, such as authorities, customers, suppliers, and service providers
- Secure HSE compliance management in location including permit management, operational control program, and regular evaluation of compliance
- Manage GMS (Global Management System) HSE certification in the location for ISO 14001 and 45001 including expansion, audits, global learning practices and GMS management review process
- Provide coordination on global, Area, Business Line, and own initiatives and activities
- Analyze and assess the needs, gaps and opportunities in location HSE performance as input to reviews, target setting, plans and preventive initiatives and actions
- Lead and manage incident investigation, root cause analyses and corrective action implementation in the locations
- Act as the Occupational Health and Safety Manager (Työsuojelupäällikkö), ensuring compliance and promoting a strong safety culture across the organization.
- Implement HSE processes and country instructions, and develop, implement and maintain needed local HSE procedures, and perform tasks as defined in these processes and procedures.
Our expectations to you
- Master's or Bachelor's degree from relevant field of studies
- Ability to learn and willingness to develop yourself professionally
- Knowledge of the safety requirements of the production industry, previous experience of safety requirements for lifting operations and working at heights is seen as an advantage
- Knowledge of the occupational health and safety manager's statutory duties, previous experience is seen as an advantage
- Experience in managing and developing safety in a workplace of several hundred employees
- Fluent verbal and written communication skills in Finnish and English. Other languages are a merit.
- Knowledge of multi-site ISO 14001,ISO 45001and ISO 9001 management systems standards and certifications, as well asFinnishlegislation and standards within HSE
- Experience of leading incident investigations
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office, Sharepoint, Teams
- Willingness to travel within Finland (approximately 20%)
- Experience of working in an international matrix organization is an advantage in the position. In this task, we work with numerous local and external stakeholders.
