Power Systems Engineer

About the role 

We are looking for a Power systems engineer to support projects related to the electrification, modernization, and maintenance of power plant turbines in the Nordics, Baltics, and Central Europe. Your responsibilities will include providing on-site technical expertise in system design, technical problem-solving, and assisting with project definitions and proposal development for sales. You will also engage in discussions with suppliers and the technical representatives of clients during the project planning phase. The role can be tailored to match your experience and knowledge. 

 

Key responsibilities of the role include 

  • Electrical design in our modernization projects, primarily focusing on generator excitation, protection, and synchronization 

  • Technical support for the sales team 

  • Technical specifications for equipment used in modernization projects 

  • Preparing requests for proposals and overseeing subcontractors 

  • Supporting installation supervision and commissioning 

Your location can be in any of our local offices in Vantaa, Naantali, Oulu, Jyväskylä, Vaasa, and Imatra, among others. We work flexibly in a hybrid setting that adapts to both your professional and personal needs. 

 

About you 

To succeed in this role, you ideally have  

  • A university degree or a lower university degree in a relevant field 

  • Strong work experience (at least 3 years) in electrical power engineering within an industrial environment, including experience with higher voltage levels 

  • Proficiency in both written and spoken Finnish and English; skills in Swedish and German are a plus 

  • Willingness to travel as required by the business, approximately 50 days per year 

  • Expertise in generator excitation, protection, and synchronization systems, as well as an understanding of power plant grid connection requirements, is advantageous
