Principal Engineer, Video Coding Software

The team you'll be part of

Nokia Technologies is licensing Nokia intellectual property, including patents, technologies, and the Nokia brand, building on Nokia's continued innovation and decades of R&D leadership in technologies deployed in virtually all connected devices used today. 

The Video Center of Excellence develops state-of-the-art visual technologies and system solutions. We drive the standardization of future media technologies in leading standardization organizations.

HOW YOU WILL CONTRIBUTE AND WHAT YOU WILL LEARN

What you will learn and contribute to

As part of our team, you will:

  • Design and implement  new video codec  SW architectures and features (video coding tools and high-level syntax features) for next generation video codecs.
  • Contribute to collaborative research leading to technology transfer, publications, and Intellectual Property. 

You also have a chance to develop your skills towards next generation video coding algorithm development.

KEY SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

Your skills and experience

To succeed in this exciting role, we expect you to have the following qualifications:

  • At least a M.Sc. degree with a minimum of 8 years of relevant experience and demonstrated capability in high-quality SW implementations of video codecs or image/video processing algorithms.
  • Excellent software development skills in C and C++ and collaborative software development experience.
  • Hands-on expertise in the latest video coding standards, such as HEVC and VVC.

The following additional skills or experience are valued:

  • Knowledge on different software environments, such as cloud and GPU environments.
  • Python and machine learning frameworks.

Good track record in IPR generation.
