Procurement Category Manager, Solar

Fortum’s Corporate Procurement is looking for a Procurement Category Manager, Solar with knowledge and global experience of solar related components and services used in utility scale projects. The role of our procurement is to enable strong business performance, sustainable purchasing processes and supplier collaboration, and to secure the availability of right materials and services considering the needs and requirements from our stakeholders.

About the role

Procurement Category Manager, Solar shall be working closely with business supporting especially Wind and Solar business area focusing to Nordics and selected other areas as well as Solar in India together with local procurement team. As a Category Manager your tasks shall include:

• creating and implementing category strategy to optimize the total cost of ownership
• manage supplier related safety, sustainability, quality and supplier relations in your own area
• executing sourcing projects in own category together with business area teams
• executing operative procurement cases especially in Nordics and Europe
• negotiating frame agreements with own category suppliers

Category scope includes:

• solar main equipment (such as solar PV modules, trackers, mounting structures and inverters)
• solar related installation and O&M services (such as EPC contractors)
• solar related consultancy services (technical and QA related consultancy)
• Battery Energy Storage System related equipment and services (depending on applicant competences in BESS area)

You shall be located to Fortum HQ at Espoo, Finland (other Fortum locations negotiable). You are also willing and have ability to travel to Europe and Asia.

What we are looking for

You have:

• previous experience, at least 6 years, in category management or strategic purchasing in field of solar utility scale business
• battery energy storage system related experience is an advantage, how ever not mandatory
• experience working directly with Asian suppliers and especially with Chinese suppliers
• an academic degree in a relevant field such as technology or business
• relevant commercial and technical background to work with your category
• strong leadership, collaboration, project management, problem solving and analytical skills
• proven negotiation skills and the ability to challenge established ways of working
• fluent in oral and written English. Skills in other languages is an advantage.
