Product Development Engineer

Sandvik Mining and Rock Solutions is the leading provider of equipment and tools as well as maintenance and technical services for the mining industry. The Tampere plant is a global technology and manufacturing center for drill rigs.

If you are a development oriented professional you might be the right person to join our Rock Drills team. We are now looking for a proactive and innovative Product Development Engineer to take over an important role in a Rock Drill development. This is a permanent, full-time position and based in Tampere, Finland.

Your role

You work as a Product Development Engineer in Rock Drill and Rotation Head R&D team. Your main role is to develop and research Rock Drills and their technical features. In addition, it is possible to work with and develop test benches. You are part of Product Development team and work closely with research teams, other R&D organizations within Sandvik, new product durability tests, proto Rock Drill assemblies, after market teams and new modern Rock Drill factory, which utilizes the latest manufacturing technologies. Depending on your background, the different specific responsibilities may also be part of your job description.

Your background

You have a suitable educational background (Master’s or Bachelor’s degree in engineering, preferably mechanics or hydraulics), 3D Design skills (NX and Teamcenter) and some years of experience in product development. Understanding and design experience of machined parts and in welded steel structures is an advantage. Your career can be ahead, or you can be already an experienced designer. Success in the position requires you to have your own initiative and active work approach, good interaction and teamwork skills, perseverance and you can communicate in Finnish and in English. Work includes interaction with production teams and because of this fluent communicating skills in Finnish language is required.
