Job description:

Engineering & Projects (E&P) is responsible for implementing Fortum's nuclear power projects. We are experts working on demanding tasks at Loviisa and co-owned nuclear power plants, employing around 150 top professionals. We support external customers by delivering world-class nuclear power services globally. In addition we have strong focus in nuclear research and development and provide expertise to new nuclear and P2X projects.

 

About the Role

Fortum is seeking for a Team Lead for our Structural and Plant Design team within the Technical Design Department of Engineering & Projects, located in Espoo, Finland. This is a unique opportunity to lead a skilled team of civil and plant design experts, drive innovative engineering solutions, and contribute to cutting-edge projects that ensure the safety and efficiency of nuclear power plants.
 

As part of the Technical Design Leadership Team, you will report to the Director of the Technical Design Department.

We utilize effective and flexible hybrid working model. The role requires occasional traveling to stakeholder premises.

 

Key Responsibilities

· Lead the Structural and Plant Design team, focusing on all civil engineering activities required for nuclear power plants.

· Oversee and steer the team’s work in structural design of concrete and steel structures, static and dynamic structural analyses, plant layout and 3D modeling and constructability and construction management. Lead the assignment scoping, scheduling, and resourcing.

· Participate actively in design and development activities.

· Act as a member of the Technical Design Leadership Team, collaborating closely with other discipline leads.

· Contribute actively to the overall needs of the stakeholders at Loviisa Nuclear Power Plant, other internal and external stakeholders, including e.g. New Nuclear, Nuclear Services, P2X.

· Ensure the highest standards of safety and quality, fostering a strong safety culture.

About you

· A passion for developing people and teams, with a proven track record in leading expert work.

· Strong technical capabilities and experience in civil engineering, preferably in structural design, analyses, and plant design within the nuclear engineering sector.

· Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

· Experience of Finnish nuclear power plant safety and regulatory requirements is considered as an advantage, and the ability to work according current processes and instructions and to develop them further.

· Relevant university degree, preferably in civil engineering.

· Solution-oriented with the ability to proactively implement development initiatives.

· Proficiency in English and Finnish, both spoken and written. Swedish skills are an advantage.
