Associate professor (non-tenure track) in computational science and artificial intelligence degree programmes
The Department of Computational Engineering at the LUT School of Engineering Sciences is seeking an associate professor (non-tenure track) in the field of computational science and artificial intelligence degree programmes.
The main duties will include
- developing education at the national and international levels and coordinating administrative tasks in the degree programmes
- teaching basic and intermediate courses in computational engineering and artificial intelligence
- contributing to the department's research activities.
The department hosts the Flagship of Advanced Mathematics for Sensing, Imaging and Modelling (FAME), funded by the Research Council of Finland. Current research areas of the department include inverse problems, numerical analysis, computational statistics, computer vision and pattern recognition.
What we are looking for
Applicants are expected to have a doctoral degree in a field relevant to the position, such as a DSc or PhD degree. In addition, the regulations of LUT University require that an associate professor (non-tenure track) has the pedagogical competences and teaching skills necessary for the position, proof of high-level research work and publications, and the ability to lead a research group and raise research funding. Experience in Finnish university education is considered beneficial.
The position is part of LUT University's non-tenure track, where promotions are based on tenure track criteria. The employment relationship is fixed-term for four years with a six-month trial period. At the end of the four-year term, the position may be made permanent after a successful promotion review.

Salary
The salary is determined according to the salary system for university teaching and research personnel. The typical gross starting salary for an associate professor (non-tenure track) is approximately 57 500-66 300 euros a year (plus a holiday bonus in accordance with the collective agreement), depending on the qualifications and experience of the candidate and the responsibilities agreed on.
The job is based in Lappeenranta, Finland.
