We are now looking for a Chief Project Engineer, Mechanical to join our innovative Plant and Cell Development team.
Position information
In this role, you will act as a project lead responsible for mechanical engineering activities such as design, procurement, installation, commissioning, and final documentation. In addition to project responsibilities, you will work hands-on with highly versatile engine testing systems in a dynamic and engaging industrial environment.
This position is permanent, and the location for the position is in Vaasa, Finland.
Your role and responsibilities
Key responsibilities include managing engine delivery projects, development initiatives, and modification activities within the department. You will work both independently and in close collaboration with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders.
The Plant and Cell Development team serves as a center of expertise for plant and test cell projects, offering you the opportunity to actively influence and contribute to a rapidly evolving engine testing environment. We provide a technically diverse and flexible working environment with a strong focus on the implementation and development of advanced plant and engine technologies. Our role is to enable the engine technologies of the future.
This position requires a proactive, determined, and systematic mindset, combined with the ability to think creatively and challenge conventional solutions.
As a Chief Project Engineer, your work will include:
- You have a big role in supporting the team with daily challenges and will work very closely with our team, removing obstacles and solving challenges - an excellent technical understanding of product development, mechanical engineering, design solutions, manufacturing processes, and plant operations helps you collaborate with design experts and partners
- Managing engine delivery, development, and modification projects
- Commissioning new equipment and systems, including preparation of CE documentation for newly installed equipment
- Developing departmental operations and implementing continuous improvements in close collaboration with the team and subcontractors
- Procuring services, equipment, and spare parts required for project execution and facility operation
- Ensuring that all activities within your area of responsibility are executed in compliance with applicable requirements, specifications, instructions, and policies
- Managing and maintaining technical documentation
- Ensuring that test cell functional descriptions and work instructions are accurate and up to date
- Coordinating materials, equipment, and documentation for plant and test cell development projects
- Acting as a key contact person for installation-related and NSR inquiries, ensuring clear and effective communication across all stakeholders
To succeed in this position, you are expected to have:
- B.Sc. or M.Sc. in Mechanical Engineering, Energy Engineering, an equivalent educational background, or qualifications gained through work experience
- A self-propelling, active personality with excellent communication and teamwork skills
- Experience in using SAP, Autodesk, Polarion, M‑Files and Teamcenter design tools
- Finnish and English language skills are required, and Swedish skills are considered an advantage
- Ability to work on multiple tasks and self-manage the workload
