We are now looking for two Data Engineers to join our Digital Development & Data Analytics team at UPM Plywood.

What you will do

The purpose of this role is to drive data initiatives. Senior Data Engineers will contribute to digital and data development projects, lead data utilization initiatives, and support data consumers' needs within the UPM Plywood business area. You will collaborate with other data, analytics, and IT professionals, as well as a wide variety of stakeholders across UPM Plywood Operations, Sales, Supply Chain, and Business Development. You will also become a member of UPM Digi & Data communities, playing a key role in our journey to become a data-driven organization. This role will provide you with an excellent viewpoint on data management at scale and offer learning and growth opportunities to advance your expertise.

In this position, you will

• Establish the best practices for data management with a strong focus on data quality

• Build and manage end-to-end data pipelines from source systems to data consumers

• Act as a technical lead in digital and data development projects

• Manage and optimize data storage solutions

• Support data consumers by turning data into valuable insights using reporting and analytic tools

• Take ownership of existing data products and business IT solutions

• Collaborate closely with Information Architects and IT Architects

• Work with UPM IT and third parties to provide operational support for IT solutions

Who you are

• You possess expertise in data management, integrations, naming conventions, and documentation

• You have experience in managing data projects, utilizing various project management methodologies, and being familiar with tools like MS DevOps

• You are familiar with IT and OT systems such as OPC UA, Kepware, Historians, MS SQL Server, Azure, Snowflake, Oracle DW, Salesforce, and SAP

• You have experience in data analytics and reporting tools, especially Power BI

• You have programming and scripting experience, especially in relation to SQL

• You have excellent collaboration and communication skills, a drive to achieve goals, and a commitment to high-quality work standards

• You are passionate about exploring modern technologies, learning new skills, and sharing your knowledge with others

• You are fluent in both spoken and written English, Finnish language proficiency is considered as an advantage

The position is primarily located at UPM Plywood locations (Lahti, Mikkeli, Savonlinna, Joensuu, Kouvola in Finland, or Otepää in Estonia). Other UPM European locations can be considered.
