Director, Global Automation Supply Chain and Sourcing

Business Unit Automation is the home of AutoMine® - the world leading solution for autonomous mining. We are based in Tampere, Finland and work closely together with our Sandvik Mining and Rock Solutions (SMR) sales areas to serve our customers. Our focus is developing fully automated and robotic mining technologies for mobile machinery, including machine vision, machine learning and artificial intelligence with an aim to revolutionize the underground and surface mining industry.

We are now looking for an experienced and business-oriented Director, Global Automation Supply Chain and Sourcing for our Business Unit. This is a global role reporting to the Vice President, Automation. The position is based in Tampere, Finland at our home office in Tulli Business Park located in the Tampere city center.

About your mission

As Director, Global Automation Supply Chain and Sourcing, you lead the Business Unit Automation supply chain and sourcing team and interact closely with our manufacturing partners. You will be responsible for the development and execution of a supply chain and sourcing strategy, which aligns with wider Business Unit strategy and growth plans. You are responsible for developing, maintaining, and implementing best practices with contract manufacturing partners as well as identifying and monitoring KPI’s to achieve the highest level of performance from our supply and sourcing teams. You will ensure that all work is done in accordance with trade compliance guidelines and are expected to collaborate across other SMR divisional supply and sourcing teams.

About your background

You have a suitable educational background such as an M.Sc. in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field. Proven experience in a similar leadership role within global supply chain and sourcing, preferably in a manufacturing or industrial setting in an international business environment. You can demonstrate successful implementation of a supply chain and sourcing strategy in a growing business while managing and developing a team of professionals. You possess excellent negotiation and supplier relationship management skills and have experience in implementing continuous improvement initiatives within the supply chain function. Additionally, you are familiar with trade compliance regulations and guidelines.

You can establish strong professional relationships directly with relevant stakeholders and communicate with them at all levels. You understand wider business needs and find innovative solutions to complex problems. You can work proactively and systematically in a fast-changing business environment with a strong success focus. You have willingness to travel domestically and internationally.
