Intern - Multimedia Streaming

You will join the Immersive Video Systems and Research team at Nokia Technologies which does industry leading and cutting-edge research enabling interactive and immersive communications. The team consists of experienced and expert colleagues who contribute to development of multimedia standards and technologies at MPEG, 3GPP and IETF.

This is a full-time traineeship for 1-year, but can be tailored with the right candidates. To join a trainee program at Nokia, an active student status is expected.

HOW YOU WILL CONTRIBUTE AND WHAT YOU WILL LEARN

  • Participate in research and development of multimedia streaming technologies, .
  • Develop proof of concepts and contribute to standardization, especially 3GPP.

KEY SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

  • BSc/MSc in Communications Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering or similar field, and you are still a student or in the process of obtaining your MSc or PhD. degree
  • Experience with media streaming protocols and frameworks like DASH, RTP, WebRTC. 
  • Familiarity with transport protocols such as QUIC as well as WebTransport and WebCodecs APIs is a plus.
  • Experience with video coding tools (e.g. GStreamer, FFmpeg)
  • Proficiency in programming and development using Python, C++ or Rust.
  • Pragmatic and effective problem-solver. Self-motivated with a strong drive to achieve results.
