Load & Haul Division’s Turku plant with in Sandvik Mining and Rock Solutions is an industry leading global provider of loaders and trucks for underground mining industry. Our focus is on technology development and future innovative solutions to enable sustainable operations for our customers. Today intelligent control system plays an essential and increasingly important role in safe and productive usage of mining equipment.

R&D and Product Development organization is currently looking for an active and innovative Mechanical Engineer to Large loaders team. The position is permanent and located in Sandvik Turku site which is a global technology and manufacturing center for loading and hauling equipment.

Your mission

Your work as a mechanical engineer in R&D projects. As a member of product team, you design steel structures, mechanisms and assemblies. Your job is to further develop current design and create new designs according to the project targets such as new performance level, new technology development and implementation, cost efficiency and modularization. You work closely with your team members to develop best practices and to innovate solutions to technical challenges. It is essential to co-operate with other teams in R&D and product development organization, manufacturing, sourcing, product line and spare parts as well as our suppliers and other partners. Depending on your background, the different responsibilities of the projects may also be part of your job description.

Your character

You have a suitable educational background (Master’s or Bachelor’s degree), 3D CAD knowledge, experience in steel structure design and product development tasks. NX/Teamcenter experience preferred. You are an innovative person with a genuine desire to develop new solutions and entities, as well as to complete challenging tasks. Knowledge of mobile equipment, diesel engines, electrics, hydraulics and BHEV-technology, as well as experience in strength calculation, welding methods, castings and design to cost principles, are considered an advantage. Success in the position requires you to have your own initiative and active work approach, good interaction and teamwork skills, perseverance and fluent oral and written skills in English.
