We are now inviting applications for the position of Postdoctoral Researcher in Finance. The position is for a fixed term of three years, with a starting date at the beginning of September 2026 or as agreed.
Your Role
You will work as a Postdoctoral Researcher in Finance. The position includes scientific research, teaching and thesis supervision, as well as administrative tasks. The role is research-oriented, and the research profile and activities of the position are connected to the Finance and Financial Accounting research group. Teaching and supervision responsibilities of the position are intended to support the Bachelor's Program in Accounting and Finance and the EFMD-accredited Master's Degree Programme in Finance.
The position is based in the School of Accounting and Finance of the University of Vaasa. The School of Accounting and Finance is one of Finland's largest educational units in its field and is internationally recognized for its high-quality research. The School comprises four disciplines: Accounting, Finance, Business Law, and Economics. The School's main focus areas of research are (1) Financial Markets, Instruments, and Institutions, (2) Financial Analysis of Firm policies and Outcomes, (3) Governance and Compliance, (4) Responsibility and Sustainability, and (5) Risk Measurement and Management. Over recent years, our faculty members have published numerous articles in highly-regarded finance, accounting, and business journals.
The position may include other tasks as agreed upon separately. The annual working time is 1612 hours, in accordance with the general collective agreement for Finnish universities. A more detailed task description is to be specified in the Annual Work Plan.
Requirements
To be eligible for the position of Postdoctoral Researcher, applicants must hold a doctoral degree and demonstrate the ability to conduct independent scientific research, as well as possess appropriate teaching skills. Strong analytical skills, writing skills, and communication skills are considered essential. The ideal candidate will have a proven research track record, including publications in highly-regarded, peer-reviewed journals relevant to the School's focus areas of research.
The evaluation of research merits takes into account the content of the applicant's publications (e.g. research topics, methodologies and the significance of the results) and the quality as a whole. Experience in obtaining external research funding and international research mobility are considered additional merits. Teaching merits, including pedagogical training, will also be taken into account. The applicant may be invited to give a teaching demonstration as part of the assessment of teaching competence.

The salary is based on both the job requirement and the employee's personal performance in accordance with the Finnish University Salary System (YPJ). The salary for a Postdoctoral Researcher is based on demand level 5 (approximately 3600-4000 euros/month based on the applicant's experience and performance).
