Barona Engineering is looking for a Project Engineer for its client Calogena, part of the Gorgé industrial group. Calogena is developing small modular nuclear reactors (SMRs) to deliver carbon-free district heating for urban networks. The company’s CAL30 (35 MW) and CAL90 (105 MW) modular plants are based on a compact, robust, and passively safe SMR design. Following the opening of Calogena’s Helsinki office in 2024, the company is expanding its local team to support project development in Finland.
As Project Engineer, you will be a key player in preparing and coordinating early-stage project activities for future SMR installations in Finland. This role combines technical coordination, project planning, and stakeholder interaction. You will work closely with Calogena’s delivery team in France and local partners to ensure smooth project initiation and compliance with Finnish requirements.
Responsibilities
Your Responsibilities
- Prepare project documentation, including siting and environmental studies.
- Perform quantity take-offs, cost estimates, and scheduling.
- Coordinate subcontractors and manage deliverables.
- Support environmental impact assessments and basic design phases.
- Organize meetings with engineering and construction partners to set up delivery teams.
- Assist in tender preparation and participate in client meetings.
- Contribute to project implementation methods that ensure high quality and cost optimization.
What We’re Looking For
- Degree in engineering (civil, mechanical, electrical, or similar).
- Proven experience in project coordination or project engineering within industrial or energy sectors.
- Ability to manage schedules, budgets, and documentation effectively.
- Familiarity with Finnish regulations and environmental processes is an advantage.
- Fluency in Finnish and English; French is a plus.
- Proficiency in project management tools (MS Office, scheduling software).
- Hands-on mindset and readiness to work in a growing, international organization.
- Willingness to travel occasionally (including visits to France).
Why Join Calogena?
Calogena is backed by a strong industrial group committed to long-term investment. You will join a small, agile team in Helsinki with the support of an experienced international organization. This is a unique opportunity to work on groundbreaking technology that will reduce CO₂ emissions and transform district heating in Finland.
We offer:
• Hybrid work model (minimum 3 days/week at Helsinki office)
• International exposure and career growth opportunities.
