Main responsibility area in this position is to manage Nokia's tax strategy in selected African countries as part of small MEA tax team in close collaboration with wider tax and finance community. The position will report to Head of Tax MEA. Location of the position is in Espoo, Finland, and it is fixed term until the end of July 2026.
HOW YOU WILL CONTRIBUTE AND WHAT YOU WILL LEARN
We are looking for experienced Tax Manager to
- Manage, develop, and optimize Nokia's tax affairs in selected MEA countries, focus on Africa
- Actively look for options and propose solutions for tax efficiency, cash tax and indirect tax optimization, compliance development and tax risk minimization
- Actively monitor / evaluate implications of tax legislation changes
- Plan, improve and drive the implementation and compliance of Nokia's business structure
- Manage all tax audit and litigation strategies including building defense for tax disputes, and manage the use of external tax consultants and tax lawyers
- Support business to comply with Nokia's sales modes in contract set-up and risk analysis, and in new business cases/tenders support by providing tax cost estimates, guidance, and tax input in deal approval process. Take responsibility over sales mode deviations in the respective country cases.
- Review quarterly tax reporting packages for tax reporting purposes
- Ensure that adequate support and controls are maintained for SOX purposes
KEY SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
- Master's degree in accounting, law or in relevant business administration
- Over 5 years of relevant tax experience in a similar role in Big 4, law firms and/or multinational companies, and tax administration
- Sound knowledge of tax legislations and practices in corporate income tax related topics in an international environment, and an understanding of the principles of Indirect Taxation
- Sufficient accounting or finance background
- Experience in communicating within multifunctional teams and independently managing cross organizational tasks
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills in English
- Excellent command of MS Office applications
- Strong analytical and project management skills
- Can-do attitude and fast decision maker
- Confidence/assertiveness: Strong influencing skills across business functions, confidence to approach business leaders with difficult messages and defend tax positions, work closely with business leaders to achieve business objectives while driving control and Nokia values
