At Valmet, our Pulp and Energy Industrial Internet (P&E VII) team is at the forefront of the digital revolution, with a strong focus on Installed-Based Monitoring. We continuously connect our installed base and utilize process data to support customers in troubleshooting and performance improvement. Our team also supports product teams in reference management with process data and analytical tools.

We are seeking a highly motivated Senior Specialist, Process Analytics to join the Pulp and Energy Industrial Internet Team. In this role, you will be the team leader of process specialists from Pulp Technologies (Fiber Processing & Recovery Cycle) and Energy & Emission Control Technologies. You will be responsible for overseeing key operational tasks and collaborating with cross-functional teams.

As the Senior Specialist, Process Analytics, you will ensure smooth cooperation with technology units and project delivery organizations to guarantee timely connections to the installed base from mill/plant start-up. Our team is responsible for building the installed base monitoring solutions on the Valmet Platform and conducting regular monitoring of the mill/plant. You will lead the process specialists to work closely with technical experts, product owners, and project managers across Valmet's organizations. You will report to the Manager of Pulp & Energy, Valmet Industrial Internet. The position can be based in Tampere or Vantaa in Finland, or Sundsvall or Karlstad in Sweden.
Key Responsibilities:

Process Analytical Expertise: Serve as the process analytics specialist for Fiberline and/or Recovery process. Analyze process KPIs, provide deep technical insights, identify areas for improvement, and implement solutions to enhance efficiency and reduce waste

Team Leadership: Be the team leader of the Process Specialists and support the team's operation, ensure the team is systematically supporting the Pulp and Energy customers

Establish installed base monitoring views: Guide the team in developing installed base applications for performance tracking, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and identifying improvement opportunities

Expert Network Support: Facilitate expert network support with technology units, build connections between process specialists and the expert network.

R&D and Data Analytics: Contribute to R&D initiatives and support the development of data analytical solutions, including Valmet Industrial Internet platform feature definitions and proactive monitoring feature definitions to support installed base monitoring initiative.

Portfolio Management: Oversee the delivery and installed base monitoring portfolios, ensuring efficient and effective management.

Change Management and Training: Lead change management, maintain up-to-date process documentation. Deliver training sessions to internal teams and customers, ensuring they leverage the installed base solutions effectively.
Expectations:
To be successful in this role you should have:

Deep understanding of Pulp technologies, such as cooking, fiber line, recovery boilers, white liquor plants.

Proven experience in process optimization, operations, or a similar role within Pulp Industry.

Strong analytical skills with proficiency in data analysis tools and process.

Self-motivation with strong problem-solving skills

Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to effectively present ideas and collaborate with diverse teams.

Ability to see the big picture while understanding detailed impacts

Ambition in driving Pulp Mill performance through real-time data

Organized and systematic working style, even in fast-paced situations

Positive, solution-oriented attitude, and ready to turn challenges into learning opportunities
Skills and qualifications:

Master's degree in Pulp & Paper processing or equivalent

Process knowledge of Fiber processing and/or Recovery cycle

At least 5 years of project delivery and commissioning experience with Pulp technologies

Strong data analytical and presentation skills

Effective networking skills, with the ability to work across diverse cultures

Fluent in English, Finnish and/or Swedish is a plus

Willingness to travel internationally up to 10%
