Vice Principal - Primary School / Vararehtori

We are seeking a dedicated and pedagogically strong Primary Vice Principal to support the leadership, teaching, and daily operations of our Primary programme. The Vice Principal works closely with the Principal and teacher team to ensure high-quality, child-centred education aligned with the Finnish National Core Curriculum and the schools values. This role combines pedagogical leadership with a 50% teaching responsibility, ensuring that leadership decisions are firmly grounded in everyday classroom practice.

Role Overview
The Primary Vice Principal works as a teacher within the primary section while supporting the smooth, consistent, and effective running of daily operations across the entire primary level. The role plays a key part in strengthening pedagogy, supporting staff wellbeing, and ensuring continuity for children and families.

Key Responsibilities
- Contribute to school leadership and development as a member of the pedagogical leadership team
- Teach within the primary programme with a 50% teaching load
- Model high-quality, child-centred, play-based, and inquiry-driven pedagogy
- Mentor and support teachers in their pedagogical planning, implementation, and reflection
- Promote inclusive practices and support children with diverse learning needs
- Support pedagogical documentation and assessment in line with Finnish principles

Operational and Organisational Responsibilities
- Coordinate day-to-day operations across the primary level
- Organise absence cover and daily staffing arrangements
- Oversee the ordering, availability, and appropriate use of teaching and learning materials
- Support admissions processes and student transitions into and within primary
- Ensure smooth communication and collaboration across teams
- Work closely with the Principal and leadership team to ensure consistency and quality
- Contribute to a positive, inclusive, and professional school culture
- Build strong partnerships with parents through open, respectful communication
- Support whole-school wellbeing initiatives and collaborative practices
