We are looking for a 

(SENIOR) AI / ML ENGINEER

to join Finnair's Enterprise AI team in Digital Unit in Finnair HQ near Helsinki Airport. Enterprise AI team is part of Finnair's Digital Enterprise team, which play a crucial role in supporting Finnair's Finance & Procurement, People & Culture and other Group Functions as well as helping to scale AI capabilities to meet the unique needs of the organization.

Enterprise AI team's mission is to seamlessly integrate AI into daily work, delivering reliable, effective, and creative solutions that enhance workplace experience. Additionally, the team is responsible for scaling AI capabilities to address the distinct needs of the organization and drive AI innovation collectively across the business. This is an exciting opportunity to be part of the Finnair team!

As a (Senior) AI / ML Engineer, you will design, build, and maintain scalable end-to-end ML pipelines covering data ingestion, feature engineering, model training, evaluation, and serving promotion of ML solutions across development, staging, and production environments using infrastructure-as-code principles. You will ensure environment parity, reproducibility, and traceability through containerization (Docker, Kubernetes) and CI/CD automation (GitHub Actions, Azure DevOps, or equivalent).

Your tasks include but are not limited to:

  • Collaborate with product managers, designers, and other developers to translate business needs into AI/ML solutions

  • Stay up-to-date with emerging technologies, cloud services best practices, enhancements or deprecations, security considerations, MLOps practices

  • Ensure reliability, scalability, security, responsible AI compliance, and production issues resolution

  • Architect, create and document scalable end-to-end pipelines for multi-environment solution deployment, monitoring and operationalization

  • Design and maintain scalable feature engineering, training, evaluation, and inference pipelines for custom models

  • Maintain IaC for AWS and Azure environments, encompassing cloud resource lifecycle management, federated identity integration, networking, and the implementation of security and governance controls

Required skills:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field

  • Proficiency in modern software engineering (Python, JavaScript, containers, CI/CD, cloud-native services) and agile delivery practices.

  • Practical experience of AWS multi-account IaC architectures and Azure configurations including networking, security and governance 

  • Applied GenAI knowledge: RAG pipelines, GenAI frameworks, vector search, LLM fine-tuning, and agentic orchestration - sufficient to design and right-size the infrastructure those workloads need.

  • Knowledge on infrastructure testing frameworks (e.g. cdk_nag)

  • 3+ years of cloud development; experience in applied AI/ML. GenAI solution architecture is a plus

  • Strong problem-solving and communication skills for cross-functional collaboration, stakeholder alignment
