Commissioning Engineer (Seinäjoki)

Would you like to work hands-on with advanced automation technology and see your work come to life at customer sites across Europe and beyond?

Vaski Group is looking for a Commissioning Engineer to strengthen its growing team of experts in Seinäjoki.

Vaski Group is a rapidly growing manufacturer of industrial machine tools, specializing in three main areas: busbar machining, sheet metal processing, and automation solutions. We combine the strengths of three established brands - Vaski, Pivatic, and Ursviken - and in this role, you will commission highly automated industrial machines and custom automation solutions for flat bar and sheet metal processing, delivered to customers worldwide.

What will you be doing?

We are looking for a Commissioning Engineer to join Vaski Group's commissioning team and ensure our machines perform exactly as promised before they are delivered to customers worldwide. In this role, you will be the final technical checkpoint - responsible for running machines, testing functionality, and validating that electrical, automation, and mechanical systems work seamlessly together.

Your work is two-phased. The main commissioning is done at Vaski's facilities, where you carry out electrical and functional testing, fine-tune PLC logic, and verify overall machine quality. The second phase takes place at customer sites, where you support installation, complete final commissioning, and train operators and technical staff. You will also support customers remotely when needed and update documentation based on real-world findings.

The role is hands-on and practical by nature, with most of your work done using Siemens tools such as TIA Portal/STEP 7. You will work closely with installers, automation designers, and other commissioning engineers in a tight-knit team. The role also includes travel to customer sites, and while the number of travel days can vary depending on projects and personal preferences, readiness to travel is an essential part of the job.

What makes you a great fit?

You enjoy hands-on technical work and like seeing complex machines come to life through testing and problem-solving. You are comfortable taking responsibility, working independently when needed, and interacting with customers in an international environment. This role suits someone who likes variety - combining factory-based work with travel, customer interaction, and continuous technical learning.

What we expect from you:

  • A degree in automation, electrical engineering, or a similar field, or a strong practical background in electrical or automation work
  • Ability to read and understand electrical and mechanical drawings
  • Good understanding of electrical systems, automation, and machine functionality
  • Good English skills, written and spoken

Additionally considered an asset:

  • Finnish or German language skills
  • Skills in PLC programming, especially Siemens TIA Portal / STEP 7
  • Experience in commissioning, machine startup, or factory acceptance testing
  • Understanding of NC systems

We offer you:

  • A stable, fast-growing, and international employer that is a forerunner in its field and offers the opportunity to work with technically demanding, high-end products
  • A hands-on commissioning role where you develop strong PLC expertise while bringing complete production lines into operation
  • International exposure through commissioning and customer training projects, offering the opportunity to work with customers and machines across Europe and beyond
  • A low-hierarchy environment where collaboration is genuinely close
  • A comprehensive benefits package including medical expense, travel, and occupational and leisure accident insurance, as well as wellbeing, lunch, and mobile phone benefits

Practicalities:

This is a full-time and permanent position, and you will be employed directly by Vaski Group. This role is based in Seinäjoki, and we're looking for a locally based Software Engineer who enjoys on-site collaboration. The position includes travel related to commissioning and customer-site work, so readiness to travel is required. The starting date is flexible and can be agreed upon with the selected candidate.
