Development Manager

Your role

We are looking for a Development Manager to act as a pharmaceutical expert in production interface (production contact person) in Turku. Your area of expertise is gel and ointment formulations. As a production contact person, you act as a pharmaceutical expert in areas such as production deviations, product problem solving, and product changes. In your role, you have a direct impact on product availability, quality and productivity.

You will be part of Orion's Commercial Product Development & Lifecycle Management (CPD & LCM) organization and report to Expert Team Lead Saana Ylä-Onnenvuori. The working model is hybrid. The work occasionally requires working during the production of test batches in evening, night and weekend shifts. The position is located in Turku and is full-time. The position is a temporary parental leave substitution until April 30, 2027.

Responsibilities

  • Industrialization and Lifecycle Management: Acting as a pharmaceutical expert in product industrialization projects and/or product lifecycle management activities including deviation management and CAPA processes.
  • Product Change Management: Planning, implementation, and documentation of product changes. Organizing and monitoring trial and process validation batches in production.
  • Continuous Improvement: Identification and implementation of process improvements in working processes and production processes in close collaboration with other experts and stakeholder organizations.
  • Collaboration: Working closely with production, quality assurance, quality control, engineering, production planning and CPD & LCM experts. Collaborating with Orion's subsidiaries and partners and participating in inspections conducted by regulatory authorities and partners.

What are we looking for?

  • A relevant higher university degree (e.g., M.Sc. in Pharmacy or M.Sc. in Engineering).
  • Willingness to work in a production environment and, when needed, in a non-GMP manufacturing laboratory.
  • Experience in a GMP or other regulated environment is an advantage.
  • Understanding of authority requirements related to marketing authorizations and product lifecycle management, especially regarding product change management, is an advantage.
  • Experience/knowledge of gel and ointment manufacturing processes is of advantage.
  • A solution-oriented and proactive working style.
  • Ability to adapt to changing situations and tasks, and to face challenging situations with a positive attitude.
  • Strong interpersonal and collaboration skills.
  • Fluent communicator in Finnish and English both written and verbal.

Your new team

Orion's Global Operations covers the entire pharmaceutical manufacturing process, from sourcing of raw materials to the manufacture of products, packaging and delivery to customers. We are also responsible for the industrialization of new products and product life cycle management.

In Global Operations we have approximately 1,600 professionals working in Production, our external supplier network (Externally Sourced Operations) and Fermion Oy (API manufacturing and marketing). In addition, the organization includes Supply Chain & Procurement, Technical Operations, Facility Management, EHS (Environment, Health and Safety), CPD&LCM (Commercial Product Development & Product lifecycle management) and Operations Development.

The Commercial Product Development & Lifecycle Management (CPD&LCM) organization is responsible for maintaining, enhancing, and further developing the products in Orion's portfolio. We also handle technology transfers and the industrialization of Orion's original products (final stage product development).
