Fuel Injection Technical Expert

• The Fuel Injection Technical Expert is a permanent role to support customers and improve the technical and operational performance of fuel injection equipment and systems with a focus on gas and green fuel development.
• Responsibilities include providing high-level technical support, specifying component conditions and repair criteria, leading field tests, advising in customer and vendor technical discussions, and performing failure analysis.
• The role is preferably based in Vaasa (options for Turku or Trieste), requires an M.Sc. or B.Sc. in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent, significant engine/fuel injection experience, strong English and communication skills, analytical mindset, and willingness to travel about 30–60 days per year.
• For the Italian location the annual salary range is 41,588 EUR - 56,505 EUR in accordance with the applicable national collective labour agreement.

We are now looking for a Fuel Injection Equipment Expert to join our skilled Fuel Injection Equipment team in Technical Services as a Technical Expert. The role is offered as a permanent contract. The position open / located in Vaasa, Finland or Turku, Finland, or Trieste, Italy. All locations offer a hybrid working model.

What will you be doing?

As a Technical Expert on Fuel Injection Equipment, you will be supporting customers by improving the technical and the operational performance of our products. As an ideal candidate, you hold a broad understanding and a deep knowledge of components within the main area of Fuel Injection Equipment and Systems (FIE). Green fuel and Gas FIE development is part of our daily work, and we hope that you are eager to face that challenge.

For this technical advisory role, we expect you have an appropriate technical background, willingness to learn and adapt to new technologies, proactive way of thinking, entrepreneurial initiative, fast innovation skills and independent decision-making capability. You will be part of a global, innovative, and customer-driven organisation working with high level technologies.

In this role, some travel is required to support our customers around the world. Thus, you should be ready and willing to travel around 30 - 60 days per year.

The Fuel injection Technical Expert is expected to:

• Own the technical expertise for gas fuel injection systems.
• Provide expert technical support to customers and internal stakeholders.
• Support upgrades, retrofits, troubleshooting, and failure analysis.
• Define inspection, repair, reconditioning, and operating criteria for FIE components.
• Lead technical discussions with customers and suppliers.
• Drive product improvements, validation testing, documentation, and technical training. 

This below will enable you to succeed in this role:

• B.Sc. or M.Sc. in Mechanical, Materials, Industrial Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.
• Experience with engine fuel injection systems; gas systems experience is an advantage.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Self-driven, collaborative, customer-focused, and eager to learn.
• Fluent in English and willing to travel globally
   

Pay Transparency

The primary location for this role is Finland, but this role can also be based in Italy where the annual salary range would be 41,588 EUR - 56, 505 EUR in accordance with the salary provisions in the applicable National Collective Labour Agreement for workers in the metalworking and plant installation industry (CCNL Metalmeccanico).

At Wärtsilä, we are committed to fair and transparent pay. The salary range shared reflects the expected compensation for this role in that Italian location, based on market data and our job architecture.

The final salary will be influenced by factors such as the scope and responsibilities of the role, the required competencies, and your relevant education, skills, and experience / and the salary provisions in the applicable Collective Bargaining Agreement. We also take internal equity into account to ensure a fair and consistent approach across our organisation.
