We are currently seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Product Engineer to strengthen our Wood Handling team. In this role, you will act as the global expert for the Screening and Biomass Handling product portfolio. You will oversee the lifecycle of these products, from concept through design, development, and delivery, ensuring they meet established quality standards and business objectives.
Key responsibilities of this role:
- Oversee the technical lifecycle of the screening and biomass portfolio, incorporating feedback into the work process to guide continuous improvement and design practices.
- Lead or execute the layout design, basic and detailed engineering phases using SolidWorks, ensuring technical quality and compliance with Valmet guidelines.
- Work closely with Sales and Marketing to ensure technical alignment with customer expectations. You will support the development of value propositions and participate in customer meetings to provide technical expertise.
- Ensure that economic considerations are integrated into engineering processes, maintaining accountability for the efficiency and cost-effectiveness of design activities.
- Manage and coordinate with subcontracted designers and engineering partners globally (e.g., in India, Brazil and United States) to secure high-quality deliverables within agreed schedules.
- Provide site support during commissioning and installation phases, with occasional travel (approx. 1-2 times per year) for durations of up to 2-3 weeks.
Your home base will be Ulvila.
Who are we looking for?
We are looking for a professional with a systematic way of working and an active work approach. You should combine deep technical understanding with the ability to communicate effectively in a global environment.
To succeed in this role, you'll need:
- A bachelor's or master's degree in Mechanical Engineering
- Proficiency in SolidWorks is essential. Experience with modern engineering tools and PLM (Product Lifecycle Management) systems is highly valued.
- Experience in engineering and product management for the process industry, specifically with Wood Handling processes like biomass handling, chip handling, and screening equipment. Having experience in implementing Wood Handling projects is also highly valued.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to foster seamless collaboration across the technology unit, suppliers, and customers. You must be able to work under pressure and adhere to tight schedules.Excellent skills in MS office, and comfortable in developing tools in MS Office, particularly Excel, for calculations and analysis.
- Fluency in spoken and written English; proficiency in Finnish or other languages is considered an asset
- Ability and willingness to travel occasionally globally
