Project Engineer, Naval Architect, Marine

Your role and the team

We are strengthening our Marine organization and are now looking for a Project Engineer, Naval Architect to work on ship general arrangement design, concept and basic design projects, as well as retrofit assignments. The role is preferably based in Turku.

In this role, you will be responsible for the planning and development of ship general arrangements and other design documents, ensuring that technical, functional, and regulatory requirements are met. You will coordinate and guide concept and basic design projects as needed and actively contribute to the development of Elomatics working methods and design practices. You will also play a key role in maintaining and developing organizational knowledge related to ship design requirements, regulations, and best practices. Depending on the project, your work may include coordination and management of retrofit projects as well as participation in shipyard visits.

As Project Engineer, you will collaborate closely with customers, shipyards, suppliers, and internal stakeholders, ensuring smooth communication and successful project execution. Risk management, project reporting, and documentation are an integral part of your responsibilities, alongside other tasks assigned by your supervisor.

What helps you succeed in this role

- Relevant education in naval architecture or marine engineering (B.Sc. or M.Sc.).
- Solid work experience (+5 years) from a shipyard or engineering/design office in comparable roles.
- Strong understanding of ship general arrangements, concept and basic design, and marine regulations.
- Experience in coordinating multidisciplinary design work and managing technical interfaces.
- Ability to work independently and take ownership of complex tasks and projects.
- Good communication and collaboration skills with customers and project stakeholders.
- Experience in retrofit projects and shipyard cooperation is considered an asset.
- Fluency in Finnish and good command of English; other languages are an advantage.
- Willingness to travel occasionally for project needs and site visits.
