Job Summary
Salary: EUR 4 750 - EUR 6 250
Salary Period: Monthly
Contract Type: Full time, Permanent
We're looking for a senior developer who is equal parts builder, architect and team player. You are excited about AI-native development but grounded enough to know when the hype outruns the reality. You'll join a small, sharp team where the work spans from "what should we build" to "how does it run in production," and you're expected to have opinions at every step.
Our work is a mix: from genuine greenfield projects that we design from scratch to developing our existing services to match evolving needs. AI is a daily tool, not a marketing slide. We work closely with the different business areas at Barona, and the solutions we ship are tied directly to how the company finds new opportunities and runs more smoothly.
"The things that actually matter about a job rarely fit in a job ad. The colleagues are the best I've had. Learning new things is part of your work week, not something you squeeze in on your own time. Hybrid working model is real hybrid and nobody will micromanage how you spend your day." -Arno, Tech Lead
Your role
-
Designing and building modern, event-driven service solutions that utilize AI solutions & patterns and the supporting plumbing to create real world value in production
-
Owning problems end-to-end: from conversations with business stakeholders, through architecture and tech decisions, into implementation and running in production
-
Using AI tools as a core part of your development toolbelt, helping us figure out how to use them better every day
-
Shaping our development processes, not just executing within them
- Working hands-on with the rest of the team to keep our tightly integrated systems architecture coherent as we grow
What we're looking for
-
Solid software development background: backend and integrations are essential, comfort across the whole stack is a plus
-
Genuine interest in AI and the development around it. Realistic about the rough edges, excited about what's actually possible. We have LLM features as well as voice agents in production, we use Claude Code in our self-built development environment, and we are actively improving our agent-driven software development practices
-
Independent problem-solving and the ability to zoom out. Modern development means understanding the business case, not just the ticket, and being able to talk fluently with people on the business side.
-
Ownership mindset. We are looking for someone who is part of the solution from planning to production, who shows up to architecture discussions with opinions, and who pushes back when something doesn't make sense.
- Fluent in English. Finnish is a plus, not required.
Our stack
The stack evolves, but the spine is event-driven AWS:
-
Cloud & infra: AWS — ECS, Lambda, Bedrock, SNS/SQS at the core. Azure knowledge (identity, B2C) is a plus.
-
Backend: Node.js, TypeScript
-
Frontend: React
- AI in development & products: Claude and Claude Code as our daily drivers for development, cloud platforms and dedicated services for AI functionalities like STT / TTS, models & agents. You don't need to know all of this on day one. A strong foundation and the willingness to learn together matter more than ticking every box.
What we offer
-
A modern, experimental development environment where new ideas are constantly tried and learning together is highly valued
-
~10% of working time dedicated to learning and skill development
-
A small, sharp & dynamic team with a relaxed but professional culture developing mission critical systems, backed by the support and resources of a large established company
-
Hybrid work: mostly remote, with on-site meetings in Helsinki roughly once a month
-
A salary in the range of 4750-6250EUR/month, depending on your previous experience
- Benefits such as modern work devices, personal development budget, occupational health care and insurance, lunch and wellness benefits etc.
