Senior Software Developer, Shared Gaming Services
We are seeking a Senior Software Developer to join our Shared Gaming Services team. In this role, you will design, develop, and maintain backend services running in our GCP environment, working primarily with Java and modern JavaScript-based technologies.
A key part of the position involves translating software features into reusable, productized services that can be applied across multiple business contexts. You will ensure that solutions meet both functional and non-functional requirements, with particular focus on testability, maintainability, performance, and security.
You will also be responsible for coordinating the work of other team members, including external near-shore consultants. This involves managing and prioritizing the backlog in collaboration with a dedicated Backlog Manager and supporting the specification of requirements. You will ensure smooth communication and effective information flow between relevant Veikkaus stakeholders and your team.
You will thrive in this position, if you have:
- Confidence in coordinating and guiding remote and external development teams, with clear and proactive communication.
- Experience collaborating on backlog management and prioritization, including clarifying requirements in collaboration with stakeholders.
- A mindset for designing reusable, productized services rather than single-use features.
- Solid, hands-on experience in backend development with Java and modern JavaScript/TypeScript-based technologies.
- A strong understanding of cloud-native development and DevOps practices within SaaS or distributed systems environment.
- A good understanding of Agile delivery principles and the ability to apply them pragmatically.
- Professional-level proficiency in English, both spoken and written.
Considered an advantage:
- Proven experience in productizing software components or shared services used across multiple systems.
- Experience working with Google Cloud Platform (GCP) and its managed services.
- Experience with distributed architectures such as microservices, event-driven systems, or serverless implementations.
- Understanding of observability practices, including logging, tracing, metrics, and performance monitoring.
- Practical experience with CI/CD pipelines and version control workflows, particularly using GitLab.
- Familiarity with automated testing approaches, including unit and integration testing.
