 What are we looking for?

We are looking for individuals from various educational and professional backgrounds, and the program is intended for both those completing their university studies and those who have been in the working life for few years. A background in business, legal or technical education is an advantage, but for us it's enough that you're interested in learning about the energy industry! One of our values is mastery of collaboration, which is why we require good communication and teamwork skills from all Helen employees. To succeed in the role, you don't need to be a ready-made energy expert; what's most important is a lust for learning and enthusiasm for the job.

We are eager to find a total of six trainees for the following roles:

  •  Legal Trainee: As a Legal Trainee, you will work as part of the legal team, contributing to legal tasks across competition, contract, consumer, public procurement law, and electricity market regulation. The role includes opportunity to write master thesis in competition law with guidance provided. The role requires final stage Master of Laws studies, completed coursework in EU competition law, and interest in energy sector regulation. Fluent Finnish and English are required.
  •  Electricity Market Analyst Trainee: As an Electricity Market Analyst Trainee you will learn to analyze electricity markets, forecast prices, and work with real market data and models alongside experienced analysts. You'll work hands-on with power market models, explore Nordic energy markets, and collaborate closely with experienced analysts. This role is ideal for someone who has data analysis skills and a basic understanding of energy market fundamentals and economic insights. Fluent English is required.
  •  Project Engineer Trainee: As a Project Engineer Trainee, you'll gain hands-on experience across grid projects execution - supporting technical planning, coordinating with suppliers, tracking schedules and deliveries, and helping maintain a clear project overview together with project managers. You'll contribute to reporting and documentation and may also visit sites to see projects come to life. To succeed in this role, you have a relevant educational background (e.g. electrical power engineering) and you're not afraid to ask questions. Previous experience in the field is a plus but not required. Fluent English and Finnish are required.
  •  Portfolio Management Trainee: As a Portfolio Management Trainee, you'll gain hands-on experience with the tools and systems used in portfolio management and contribute to market analysis and insights. You'll monitor market developments, produce market overviews, and support decision-making with timely insights for sales and internal stakeholders. You'll also take part in implementing hedging and procurement actions together with the team. To succeed in this role, you have an analytical mindset and a genuine interest in electricity markets. Familiarity with electricity, commodities or equity markets, as well as an understanding of financial markets and derivatives are an advantage. Fluent Finnish and English are required.
  •  Pricing Analyst Trainee: As a Pricing Analyst Trainee, you'll get hands-on experience in developing sales: contributing to pricing, managing sales channels, analyzing data, and turning insights into action. The role offers a broad view of day-to-day sales operations, with opportunities to impact processes and collaborate closely with both the team and partners. To succeed in this role, you enjoy working with numbers and bring an analytical mindset. You have excellent Excel skills (experience with Power BI is a plus) and can work accurately even in a fast-paced environment. Fluent Finnish is required.
  •  Analyst Trainee: As an Analyst Trainee in the Energy System Development team, your tasks will primarily include energy system optimization and maintenance of related data, as well as techno-economic analysis of new investment projects. The role offers hands-on experience in energy system planning and development in a dynamic working environment. To succeed in this role, you have a good understanding of electricity markets and energy systems; studies or experience related to district heating networks and energy system modelling are considered a plus.
