Trainee, Mechanical Engineering

As our Mechanical Engineering Trainee, you will become a valued member of Kalmar's Customer Engineering team, working with straddle carriers. The team is responsible for the design and development of automated and manual straddle carriers, charging solutions, and automation infrastructure used in customer delivery projects worldwide.

In this role, you will support the design and development of hydraulic and mechanical components and systems for straddle carriers and charging solutions. You will work closely with experienced engineers, contributing to real customer projects and gaining hands-on experience in mechanical engineering within an international environment.

This position is based in Tampere. It is a fixed-term position for the summer period and start and end dates will be agreed between the manager and the employee.

What are your key responsibilities:

  • Engineering Support Activities: Perform supportive mechanical engineering tasks in delivery projects for Straddle and Shuttle Carriers.
  • Sales Material & Documentation:Create sales support material such as dimensional drawings and maintain accurate technical documentation.

What you bring to the role:

Relevant Academic Background: You have completed several years of studies in machine design as a major or strong minor.

Technical & IT Skills: You have strong IT skills and experience with 3D design software; knowledge of CATIA V5 is considered an advantage.

Communication Skills: You communicate confidently and professionally in English.

Proactive & Self-Driven Mindset: You work independently, take initiative, and bring a strong sense of ownership to your tasks.
