DevOps Lead Engineer

The Business Unit Automation as part of Digital Mining Technologies Division is driving an exciting revolutionary transformation of the Mining industry. This industry is going totally digital, which has a radical impact on our customers’ way of thinking, their processes and the way they run their business. Sandvik also has the best in class software solutions (OptiMine®) for creating a full-process transparency and control for mining operations and maintenance management processes including location tracking in GPS denied environments, real time 3D-imaging, self-learning machines and predictive data analytics technologies.

We are currently looking for a driven DevOps Lead to join our Control Systems team in Automation R&D. This position is full-time, permanent, and based in Tampere, Finland. Your mission

As a member of the Control Systems team, you will be in a key role to ensure the success of our engineering work by leading, developing and maintaining the DevOps toolchain and processes together with team members and stakeholders. In your role you will be:

  • Defining direction and roadmap for our next generation DevOps toolchain.
  • Managing and driving implementation of next generation DevOps toolchain. Migrating existing on-premises solution to cloud environment.
  • Leading and implementing DevOps toolchain improvement projects.
  • Maintaining existing DevOps solutions and replacing legacy solutions with modern counterparts.
  • Innovating new ways of working to boost R&D productivity with new tools and processes.

About you and your background

You have a suitable technical education like a B.Sc. or a M.Sc. and strong prior experience in DevOps area. You can lead the team of experts and you are not afraid of doing hands-on tasks. You have passion and strong vision to develop our DevOps solution to the next level. Strong understanding of cloud environments helps you to succeed in this role. Existing solution relies strongly on tools and technologies like Jenkins, Docker, VMWare and Git. In this role, you can heavily impact on technology and architecture decisions for next generation tooling solution.

You are comfortable in interaction with colleagues and are willing to build relationships over the organization borders. Self-starter attitude and eagerness to learn and improve your capabilities will help you to find innovative solutions to complex problems in our rapidly evolving high-tech environment. You are fluent in written and spoken English.
