Engineering Manager

We are looking for two new professionals to our Environmental Systems team in Tampere, Finland to work in a role of Engineering Manager. We develop, sell and deliver flue gas cleaning and heat recovery solutions to the energy and pulp industry.

As Engineering Manager, you are the project manager's right hand and make sure we deliver what was promised in the technical specifications. You will lead different fields of engineering in the project by coordinating the work and giving technical support. You are often the first point of contact for technical queries from the customer, suppliers and internal stakeholders during the whole project timeline from sales to commissioning. You will have a strong role in purchasing, and you are also responsible for managing the project documentation flow and distribution.

You will be a solid member of the project execution team, but also collaborate significantly with several other disciplines within Valmet, such as R&D, sales and service. This is not a line manager position; however, you will simultaneously lead varying engineering teams of multiple execution projects and hence the teamwork is really essential.

Expectations

You have strong experience from mechanical engineering in international projects and a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Engineering. We appreciate work experience from the energy industry as well as understanding of different disciplines such as mechanical, process, electrical and automation engineering, emphasis being on the mechanical side.

Proactive attitude, cooperation skills and an active communication style are essential to this position, as you will lead and pull together several stakeholder groups. You enjoy managing the overall project as well as solving detailed engineering problems, making prioritization as you go. You need certain amount of creativity and as Engineering Manager you can make informed decisions in sometimes changing and uncertain situations. Fluent English skills are required, and this position includes regular travelling.
