We Are Hiring: Lead Test Automation Engineer

We are looking for an experienced and driven Lead Test Automation Engineer to join our Semiconductor ALD Business Unit at Beneq. In this key role, you will own and lead the design, development, and long-term evolution of test automation solutions for our Atomic Layer Deposition (ALD) equipment.

You will act as a technical leader within test automation, working closely with cross-functional teams to ensure system-level quality, reliability, and performance in a complex semiconductor manufacturing environment. This role offers a strong combination of hands-on technical leadership, mentoring, and strategic influence.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the development and maintenance of test automation solutions using hardware-in-the-loop systems, creating robust system-level quality gates for software development

  • Take ownership of integration testing, ensuring seamless interaction between system components

  • Collaborate closely with developers, designers, and product managers to define requirements and design effective test strategies and test cases

  • Lead performance and load testing to validate system robustness and scalability

  • Drive continuous improvement by staying up to date with industry trends, tools, and best practices in test automation

  • Lead, coach, and mentor manual and automation test engineers, fostering high-quality standards and knowledge sharing

Required Skills and Qualifications

Education

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field

Experience & Technical Expertise

  • 7+ years of hands-on experience in designing test plans, test cases, and test automation as part of larger software development projects

  • Previous experience leading, coordinating, or mentoring test or software engineering teams in a formal or informal leadership role

  • Strong analytical thinking and a customer-focused mindset

  • Proven expertise in test automation frameworks and advanced testing tools, particularly for Windows desktop applications

  • Solid knowledge of C#, WPF, and unit testing frameworks and best practices

  • Experience with Ranorex or similar test automation tools

  • Good understanding of SQL and NoSQL databases (Postgres, MSSQL)

  • Hands-on experience with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices

  • ISTQB Advanced/Expert certification or equivalent is considered an advantage

  • Experience in machine control software testing is a strong plus

Soft Skills

  • A structured, quality-driven, and diligent approach to work

  • Strong documentation and technical writing skills

  • Solid understanding of software quality assurance principles

  • Clear and effective communication skills in English
