Project Lead Engineer, EI&C

We are looking for a Project Engineer to our EI&C-department (Electrification, Instrumentation & Controls) in the Energy business unit. This unit designs and delivers heat and power boilers and gasification plants, as well as rebuilds and environmental systems for energy producers and other industries worldwide. Our deliveries include electrification, instrumentation and controls of processes in connection to the total Valmet scope.

As the Project Engineer you will handle the delivery project from start to finish. You are in charge of the technical solution to meet customer standards and expectations. Additional responsibilities include following the quality of work, schedule and budget in your area. You will work closely with the Valmet project team, customer and suppliers, coordinating the engineering work and ensuring a unified outcome. You will work in more than one project at a time. Your actual tasks include for example making technical plans and decisions, scheduling, instructing and checking drawings, providing information to purchasing, and following and estimating the budget. One of your main tools will be the customer contract, which will help you manage our scope.

Expectations

We expect you to have a Bachelor's or Master's degree in a suitable field. You should have several years of experience in instrumentation or electrification and in complex projects, and understanding of processes at power plants or boilers is strongly appreciated. You will need to be able to communicate fluently in English. This position includes regular travelling.

Prioritisation skills are a must, and you are able to focus on your work independently and make informed decisions. Even though you will not be in a direct manager role, you will need great interpersonal skills to lead the scattered team and get everyone to follow your plan. As the area of expertise is quite vast, you will need the interest and ability to learn more, but also to accept your shortcomings and find the answers elsewhere.
