Senior Engineer, Nuclear Safety

The Engineering & Projects operations are responsible for implementing Fortum's nuclear power projects. We are technology experts working on demanding tasks related to plant operations and maintenance at our own and co-owned nuclear power plants, employing around 150 top professionals. We support and carry out sales of world-class nuclear power services globally. We actively develop new innovative products and services for our customers' needs.

In this role you will collaborate with a diverse group of experts to support operations at the Loviisa nuclear power plant, our co-owned units, and external nuclear customers. From evaluating plant concepts to developing emergency procedures and contributing to modernization projects, your work will have a direct impact on the safety and sustainability of our operations. About the role

We are looking for a Senior Engineer, Nuclear Safety. Your position in the organization is in the Nuclear Safety team of Engineering & Projects (E&P) business area, located in Espoo, Finland. The Nuclear Safety team has a wide range of different competencies which are utilized in supporting safe and efficient operations of the Loviisa nuclear power plant, our co-owned nuclear units, external nuclear customers, and the development of new nuclear and nuclear R&D activities in Fortum.

 

Your responsibilities may include the following areas determined based on your experience:

  • Nuclear newbuild projects: evaluation of plant concepts
  • Emergency and incident operating procedures with focus on strategy development and EOP validation
  • Severe accident management
  • Safety design in modernization

 

About you

To succeed and thrive in this role you have

  • a university level degree e.g. in energy engineering, or physics.
  • knowledge and experience in nuclear safety
  • You are required to have excellent Finnish and English language skills and the ability to express yourself well both in speaking and writing

 

Experience in FSAR and Operating Limits and Conditions, YVL requirements, safety classification, deterministic safety analyses is seen as a plus.
