Senior Project Manager

• The Senior Project Manager will lead R&D and Technology Development projects at Neste in the Helsinki metropolitan region including Porvoo on a temporary contract until 31.10.2027.
• You will plan, scope and manage projects to meet agreed scope, schedule, cost and quality, reserve resources, lead and coach project teams, validate results and report project status.
• Required qualifications include an M.Sc. in engineering or equivalent, several years of experience leading R&D or process technology projects in chemical, biorefining or energy sectors, strong leadership and stakeholder management skills, and fluent English.

Senior Project Manager

to our Program Management team in Helsinki metropolitan region including Porvoo for a temporary contract until 31.10.2027.

You will focus on leading impactful R&D and Technology development or expert service projects. The projects concentrate on developing cost-effective technical solutions to process diverse and challenging feedstocks, and providing solutions to improve the efficiency of production lines and end-to-end processes. Our team’s purpose is to build technology advantage in the short and long term through well-scoped, structured and executed technology development programs that support business and strategy development and are conducted in collaboration with stakeholders. Our team consists of Senior level project and program managers. Together with your expertise, we can do meaningful work to drive Neste forward.

Your role as a Senior Project Manager

• Plan and scope R&D and Technology Development projects together with the steering manager, subject matter experts and other relevant stakeholders. You define scope and synchronise the activities and deliverables to achieve agreed targets. 

• Manage R&D and technology development projects according to Neste operating model safely in compliance with agreed project scope, schedule, cost and quality

• Reserve the necessary and competent resources, lead and coach the project team and its performance and maintain the team spirit

• Maintain a strategic focus for the project with frequent interaction with the stakeholders

• Manage project scope, schedule and costs for changes

• Report projects' status according to agreed principles

• Validate the results and ensure the project delivers high quality results with business value 

• Make professional conclusions and proposals for next steps and communicate clearly verbally and in writing in English

Keys to success in this role

• M.Sc. in engineering or equivalent combination of education and experience

• Several years of experience of leading R&D, expert service or process technology development projects in e.g. Chemical, Biorefining or Energy sector 

• Strong leadership skills and experience on leading people, team & projects

• Solid experience in collaborating, influencing and engaging diverse, internal and external stakeholder groups

• Evidence of solution-driven, effective and efficient project management

• Effective analytical and problem solving skills

• Responsible attitude and safety-oriented mindset

• Effective communication skills in English both verbally and in writing
