We are looking for a Cost Estimation and Tendering Trainee for summer 2026 to join Destia. This is an excellent opportunity to learn infrastructure cost estimation and tendering in Finland's largest infrastructure service company, working closely with experienced professionals on significant infrastructure projects.
The primary work location is the Helsinki metropolitan area, and part of the work can be done remotely.
💚 What kind of work would you be doing as a trainee?
As a trainee in cost estimation and tendering, you will take part in a variety of tasks that play a key role in the early phases of infrastructure projects. Your responsibilities may include, for example:
- reviewing tender documents and project input data
- assisting in cost estimation tasks, such as compiling material, labor, and subcontracting costs
- preparing preliminary inquiries to suppliers and subcontractors
- compiling and documenting tender materials
- supporting the estimation team in scheduling and organizing tender submissions
- collaborating with design, procurement, and site teams to ensure accurate cost information
You will gain first-hand insight into how large infrastructure projects are planned, evaluated, and prepared. Throughout the internship, you will be supported by Destia's experienced cost estimators and project experts, who will guide your learning and professional development.
The internship takes place between May and August 2026, with the exact timing agreed together. Compensation is based on the applicable collective agreement, industry recommendations, completed study credits, and any relevant prior experience.

- ongoing studies in a relevant technical field (e.g. civil engineering, infrastructure engineering, building services engineering, construction management, or similar)
- interest in cost estimation, tendering, and project preparation
- basic understanding of project-based work or strong motivation to learn
- good Excel skills and willingness to learn new tools (e.g. cost estimation software)
- a careful, analytical working style and ability to understand overall project scopes
- initiative, eagerness to learn, and ability to work effectively as part of a team
Previous experience in infrastructure construction, ability to read technical drawings, or site experience is considered an advantage, but not required.
We especially value a positive attitude, numerical accuracy, and the courage to ask questions. In cost estimation, learning happens by doing, and we will support you throughout the internship.
