About the role
We are looking for a Communications Manager to join our News Desk team. In this position, you will manage News Desk's daily processes, handle group-level media inquiries, and prepare and edit releases, statements and background materials. You will also be responsible for media monitoring services; including developing, initiating and producing media reports. 

This position is a parental leave substitution until June 2025. You will report to the Head of News Desk and work closely with various communications experts, as well as investor relations, CEO office, sustainability, corporate public affairs, and legal team. We're looking for a new team member to join us in Espoo Finland, but we work flexibly in a hybrid model that adapts to both your professional and personal needs.

Your responsibilities include:

• Managing News Desk daily processes and tools; advising other teams on these
• Preparing and editing group-level news, press releases, online news, statements, background materials, and intranet news, ensuring that our content aligns with our strategy and brand
•  Managing and developing News and publications section on fortum.com 
• Managing media monitoring services; developing, initiating and producing media reports
• Compiling and preparing background material for Fortum spokespeople and media
• Coaching Fortum experts in media relations when needed
• Supporting in issues management cases and crisis communications 

About you 

We are looking for a communicator who is eager to learn about the energy sector and ready to face new and exciting situations in everyday work.

To succeed in this role, you have:

• At least 3 years of experience in communications and/or media work, relevant academic degree
• Ability to develop and produce relevant and impactful communications plans and content
• Excellent organizational and strategic skills; outcome focus; self-driven and independent approach, capability to prioritize, attention to detail
• Capable of working in complex organizational and communications environments with multidimensional topics; capability to work under time pressure
• Experience from large, (stock-listed) complex organizations; understanding the requirements and restrictions for a listed company communication
• Understanding of the utility sector's operating environment, stakeholders, strategy, and businesses is a bonus
• Fluent in English and Finnish, Swedish is an advantage

We at the News Desk act as Fortum's hub for Europe-wide visibility on the company's strategic priorities. The team handles international and national media enquiries focusing on safeguarding Fortum's reputation through proactive defensive reputation management and sharing best practices on ways of working within communication.
