We are seeking an experienced Vice President, IT Portfolio Development and Application Operations for the Metso IT Leadership team and reporting to the CIO. This role offers you the opportunity to steer the direction and implementation of strategies in Metso IT. As the overseer of our IT portfolio, you'll be ensuring that our technological endeavors align seamlessly with our business goals. Your responsibility will not just be development and management, but also driving operational excellence in our Applications team. 

 

This position is mainly located in Finland, Espoo or Tampere, and we are happy to offer flexible working arrangements, including hybrid options. However, the position involves up to 10% travel. 

 

 

Team you'll belong to 

 

Metso IT is responsible for IT governance, architecture, security, running IT operations, and, together with the business areas and functions, developing IT systems, tools, and services needed to support business operations. 

 

Portfolio development and applications teams work with all company business areas and support functions, forming cross-functional capability teams and collaborating and aligning tightly with all IT teams and partners. Applications teams' internal IT ownership and skills with deep business and processes understanding are the key enablers for work.   

 

 

What you'll do 

 

  • Strategic Planning: 
    • Develop and implement strategies and roadmaps for IT portfolio development in alignment with organizational goals and objectives. 
    • Identify opportunities for leveraging technology to drive innovation, improve operational efficiency, and enhance customer experience. 
  • Portfolio Management: 
    • Lead the prioritization, planning, and execution of IT projects and initiatives across the organization. 
    • Manage the IT portfolio, including resource allocation, budgeting, and risk management. 
    • Monitor project progress and performance, ensuring timely delivery and adherence to quality standards. 
    • Measure and ensure the benefit realization of development activities 
  • Application Operations: 
    • Oversee the operation and maintenance of enterprise applications and key platforms, ensuring optimal performance, availability, and security. 
    • Develop and implement policies, procedures, and best practices for application management and support.
  • Vendor Management: 
    • Manage relationships with IT vendors and service providers, ensuring compliance with contractual and service level agreements (SLAs). 
    • Evaluate vendor products and services, making recommendations for procurement or renewal based on business requirements and performance metrics. 
  • Leadership and Team Development: 
    • Provide leadership and guidance to a team of IT professionals, fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement. 
    • Mentor and develop team members, providing opportunities for growth and skill enhancement, while fostering a positive and inclusive work environment.

 

 

Who you are 

 

  • Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field. 
  • Proven experience in IT leadership roles in international business environments, with a focus on portfolio management and application operations development. 
  • Experience working with outsourcing service providers and developing them in vendor management, contract negotiation, and performance monitoring. 
  • Experience working with SAP, Salesforce, and Microsoft platforms. 
  • Strong strategic planning and execution skills, with the ability to align IT initiatives with business objectives. 
  • Solid understanding of enterprise architecture principles, IT governance frameworks, and agile project management methodologies. 
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with stakeholders at all levels of the organization. 
  • Strong leadership abilities with a track record of building and leading high-performing teams.
