Cooling Commissioning Engineer

Are you experienced in cooling, HVAC or data center cooling systems and ready to work on complex international projects?

We are looking for a Cooling Commissioning Engineer to support Schneider Electric customers across Europe. In this role, you will provide professional on-site services for cooling equipment and systems, including commissioning, technical diagnostics, troubleshooting and customer support.

You will work on complex and critical projects, mainly within data center and critical infrastructure environments, supporting equipment such as air- and water-cooled chillers, CRAC/CRAH units, fan walls and liquid cooling systems.

This position requires international travel for approximately 70% of working time.

Main responsibilities

  • Perform startup and commissioning across the cooling product range
  • Evaluate unit installation, including pipework quality and hydraulic circuits for chillers
  • Evaluate system installation and operational conditions
  • Perform onsite adjustments to bring equipment to optimal running conditions
  • Identify whether failures are related to quality issues, software issues or operational conditions through root cause analysis
  • Work with Schneider Electric service engineers and partners during site interventions
  • Properly document, label and return defective parts used in repairs
  • Train Schneider Electric customers on basic equipment operation
  • Perform preventive and corrective maintenance for cooling systems

About you

  • Thorough understanding of HVAC principles, especially cooling, with basic knowledge of electricity
  • Experience working independently with general guidance and clear objectives
  • Strong commitment to safety policies, practices and procedures
  • Ability to read, analyse and interpret technical procedures, professional documents and regulations
  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence and procedure manuals
  • Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions
  • Ability to interpret technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously
  • Willingness to travel internationally for approximately 70% of working time, and sometimes more

Education and experience

  • University education in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering or a similar technical field
  • Around 5 years' experience with commissioning or field service repair of HVAC or cooling equipment
  • Confirmed experience with cooling equipment and solutions, such as air cooling, air-cooled chillers or water-cooled chillers
  • Experience with precision cooling is a strong advantage
  • Experience with HVAC, generators, fire detection or fire suppression systems is an advantage
  • Fluent communication skills in English, minimum B2 level
  • Flexible, reliable and customer-focused mindset
  • Strong attention to technical detail
  • Team player with leadership capability
  • Good software tool literacy, including MS Office, Acrobat and AutoCAD
