to join us in the Research unit of the Centre for Wireless Communications (CWC) at the Faculty of Information Technology and Electrical Engineering.
The Centre for Wireless Communications trains world-class graduates, conducts research worldwide, and develops new technology in collaboration with the most significant R&D organizations and industry leaders in the field of wireless communications.
About the job
SpecX project provides a high-level European research programme and doctoral training to 15 Doctoral Candidates (DCs) in large-scale spectrum measurements, analysis, and applications in future telecom infrastructure, funded by the Marie-Sklodowska-Curie Doctoral Network "Doctoral Network on Spectrum Analytics as a Service" within the Horizon Europe programme of the European Commission.
We offer one doctoral researcher position in communications engineering focusing on spectrum management for 6G networks.
In this role:
- You study and develop a spectrum management framework that incorporates spectrum analytics as a service and considers requirements from spectrum policy-making and conflicting business stakeholders' agendas.
- You develop spectrum management techniques that make use of spectrum analytics to allow local 6G networks to access the radio spectrum on a shared basis.
- You will also translate research findings into relevant knowledge for regulatory bodies for policy making.

Who are you?
To succeed and enjoy the position, we require from you:
- Master's degree in communications engineering or related field. A Master's degree must have been completed before the start of the doctoral researcher's work.
- Fluent in written and spoken English
- IT skills & communication skills
- See also the requirements of the University of Oulu Graduate School (UniOGS)

- Understanding of regulation and/or business aspects of wireless communication systems
- Experience in interaction/collaboration with stakeholders
Salary
The position is a fixed-term appointment for 3 years. The start date is agreed upon.
The successful candidates will receive an attractive salary in accordance with the MSCA regulations for Doctoral Candidates. The fellowship will consist of a competitive salary, with a country correction factor, plus an additional allowance for family obligations, and an allocation for research and training costs. The exact salary will be confirmed upon appointment.
A 6-month trial period is applied to the position.
