Phase1, Facility Management Trainee (Fermion Technical Organization)

About your role

Phase1 is Orion's paid trainee programme designed for university students, bringing together a large and diverse group of talents from various fields every year. You will take part in the design reviews and commissioning of new facilities and building systems. You will be responsible for documenting construction plans, managing room qualification processes, and archiving project documentation. In addition, you will support project managers throughout various stages of construction and investment projects, assist in the preparation of project plans, and help resolve technical issues on site. During scheduled shutdowns, your work will include a range of tasks such as site supervision, safety oversight, and commissioning of building-related construction works and installations. 

You'll be part of a team of engineering professionals based at Fermion's plants in Hanko and Oulu. Our team is responsible for planning, sourcing, construction, and commissioning of production-related factory investments. We are working closely with production staff and other external stakeholders.

The position is based in Hanko On-site. The role is planned to start in May and will last for approximately four months.

Your key responsibilities

  • Site supervision tasks and construction work site safety matters
  • Responsibilities of a site engineer
  • Preliminary studies for upcoming facility projects at the Hanko plant
  • Reviewing construction project plans and compiling procurement documentation
  • Documenting construction plans, room qualifications, and archiving project documentation

Our expectations

  • A relevant educational background in construction engineering, building technology, HVAC engineer or a similar field (e.g., B.Eng/M.Eng). You should be in the middle or final stages of your studies.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and diagrams
  • You have a basic understanding of the fundamentals of construction engineering and building HVAC systems
  • AutoCAD skills
  • Strong attention to detail and project skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively across projects
  • Fluent Finnish language skills

You have strong interpersonal skills and a genuine desire to learn. You are proactive, forward-thinking, approachable, and solution-oriented. You strive to improve processes and know when to ask for help if needed.

Our Phase1 trainees will be paid a monthly salary of €2370-2625, depending on the number of completed study credits. In addition, the Phase1 trainees are eligible to various employee benefits offered by the company.

Unit description.

Fermion Oy is a subsidiary of Orion and develops and produces all active pharmaceutical ingredients (APIs) for Orion's in-house developed innovative medicines and for some of Orion's branded, generic and animal health products. Fermion also develops and produces a series of generic APIs for various indications and is active as CDMO, contract development and manufacturing organization, to serve other pharmaceutical companies. The company has produced APIs in Hanko, Finland since 1973, and the plant currently has personnel of 180. The company's Oulu plant commenced operations back in 1964 and currently employs more than 100 professionals. Fermion's head office is in Espoo where R&D, S&M and part of QM personnel are located. Altogether approximately 400 professionals work for Fermion.
