Category Manager Packaging Materials

About your role
We are now looking for an experienced sourcing and supply chain professional to join our team. The location of the position can be either Espoo or Turku.


In your role as a Category Manager, Packaging Materials you would be leading Direct Procurement packaging materials category to maintain and develop its supplier base/management, sourcing, agreements, risk management, total cost improvement and continuous improvement projects with team and stakeholders.  
You may have also some own partner/key suppliers where you are responsible for strategic part. You will also have possibility to participate actively to other wider procurement development projects & community work to develop competences.
You will report to the Head of Direct Procurement. The role is full-time and permanent & working with hybrid model.


Your key responsibilities

  • Lead Packaging material category towards its vision and targets 
  • Maintain and develop supplier base/management & agreements at own category
  • Execute/support new sourcing cases at own category
  • Secure proactive risk management at own category
  • Secure sustainability processes at own category
  • Good co-operation both with internal and external stakeholders
  • Own level invoice/PO approval
  • Create & Update category strategies at own category
  • TCO and continuous improvements at own category
  • Be direct supervisor for four sourcing managers

We are looking for a experienced positive, energetic and proactive person, who accepts demanding goals and shows drive and determination towards fulfilling them. A positive can-do attitude with excellent co-operation and networking skills are essential to have in this role.

  • An applicable education
  • Many years experience and strong skills and experience in supply chain activities and sourcing, supplier management, risk managements and development activities
  • Business oriented mindset and strategic procurement understanding
  • Networking and analytical skills
  • Excellent negotiation and project management skills
  • Fluent in English and Finnish
  • SAP knowledge is recommend
  • Ready to travel abroad about 20 days/year
  • Supervisor experience is advantage

Unit description
Orion's Global Operations covers the entire pharmaceutical manufacturing process, from sourcing of raw materials to the manufacture of products, packaging and delivery to customers. We are also responsible for the industrialization of new products and product life cycle management.
In Global Operations we have approximately 1,600 professionals working in Production, our external supplier network (Externally Sourced Operations) and Fermion Oy (API manufacturing and marketing). In addition, the organization includes Supply Chain & Procurement, Technical Operations, Facility Management, EHS (Environment, Health and Safety), CPD&LCM (Commercial Product Development & Product lifecycle management) and Operations Development.


Direct Procurement belongs to Supply Chain & Procurement organization in Orion. It is responsible for global purchasing and sourcing, risk management, agreements, category strategy, process development and supplier relationship management for own manufacturing materials and suppliers at Orion Corporation. Supply Chain & Procurement is part of Orion's Global Organization.
