We are looking for a Communications Manager, Media Relations, to join Fortum’s Corporate Communications team within SCR at our headquarters in Espoo, Finland.
About the role
In this role, you will oversee, manage and develop the Fortum News Desk and plan and execute corporate and Finnish media relations. You will also manage the News Desk’s guidelines, processes, standards and tools. You will play a key role in Corporate Communications by preparing and editing releases, news items, statements and background materials. You will also be responsible for media monitoring and reporting.
Through active networking, you will engage with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders. You will also be the main contact for CRB media relations colleagues in Sweden, Norway and Poland.
You will report to the Director, Corporate Communications.
Main responsibilities:
- Creating and executing corporate-level media strategies and managing corporate media relations, including media relations in Finland; organising media briefings and events; and responding to media enquiries
- Preparing and editing corporate news, statements and background materials in English and Finnish, ensuring that the content supports Fortum’s strategy and brand and aligns with integrated Fortum way of working.
- Participating actively and independently in issues management
- Managing media monitoring services and developing, initiating and producing media reports
- Managing the Fortum News Desk and its guidelines, processes, standards and tools
- Updating corporate and Finnish media rooms on external web pages and supporting Internal Communications with intranet content as needed
About you
We are looking for an outstanding professional with:
- At least five years of experience in communications and media relations, as well as a relevant academic degree
- The ability to provide both strategic and tactical communications planning and support, and to write clear, comprehensive releases in English and Finnish on complex topics
- Strong business acumen
- A solid understanding of Fortum’s business operations, strategy, operating environment and stakeholders, and how these affect the company
- Fluency in English and Finnish; Swedish is an advantage
- Excellent organisational and strategic skills, a self-driven and independent approach, the ability to prioritise and strong attention to detail
- A structured approach and strong content-creation skills
- The ability to influence and persuade
- The ability to work in complex organisational and communications environments involving multidimensional topics, perform under time pressure and adapt to rapidly changing situations
