Director, Group Control and Finance Development

We're looking for a business- and development-minded finance leader to head Group Control & Finance Development. In this role, you will lead Valmet's Group-level financial controlling, reporting, planning and performance management, and drive end-to-end finance process and tool development across Valmet. You'll partner closely with Vice President Group Finance, Finance Operations, and Business Area finance to deliver accurate insights, enable better decisions, and modernize our finance landscape.

Key responsibilities

Group Control (performance & reporting)

  • Lead Group actuals, rolling forecasting and annual planning processes, including CFO/CEO review materials and Group management reporting templates.
  • Own Group-level P&L and Balance sheet, Other segment allocations and rules; ensure high-quality monthly consolidation support and validations including HFM end-user support.
  • Define and maintain master data structures e.g., cost center and account hierarchy, and ensure clear governance for allocations and organizational splits.

Finance Development (process, tools & governance)

  • Act as process lead for management reporting, forecasting and budgeting; harmonize ways of working across Business Areas and Group functions.
  • Set the governance model for finance system development and the roadmap for future planning/reporting needs; steward key platforms e.g., HFM, Power BI.
  • Drive initiatives such as HFM replacement, cost center/function hierarchy renewal, and strengthening function controlling and business partnering.
  • Collaborate with Finance Operations (O2C, P2P, R2R and Country Finance) to ensure optimal process flows, data accuracy and financial control globally.

Leadership & collaboration

  • Build a high-performing team culture with accountability, psychological safety and strong cross-functional collaboration.
  • Engage senior stakeholders across Group Finance, Business Areas, and Finance Operations to land change and deliver value.

What we're looking for

  • 10+ years in Group/Business controlling, FP&A, or finance operations in a global company; proven track record leading performance management and finance development initiatives.
  • Strong proficiency with enterprise performance management and reporting tools.
  • Transformation mindset; sets clear expectations, drives accountability, and fosters collaboration across organization.
  • Fluent in English (written and verbal).
  • Master's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, Industrial Management or related field.
