For our customer Microsoft, we are looking for an experienced Optical Engineer.
You will be part of a small multi-cultural global English speaking team. Due to time zones and differences, some Teams meetings may take place in the evenings. Otherwise working hours are quite flexible.
Tasks and Job description:

Lead and support imaging optics design projects from concept to production.

Collaborate with optics suppliers to ensure manufacturability and quality of lens designs.

Analyze lens specifications and evaluate design trade-offs for performance optimization.
-
Work closely with cross-functional teams to confirm feasibility of designs and injection-molded components.

Perform data analysis on large simulation and manufacturing datasets to identify trends and improve processes.

Develop and maintain scripts for optical design and automation using Python and Zemax.

Carry out illumination analysis for product components
Requirements, skills and background:
-
Level: mid- to senior level optical engineer
-
Msc in optical engineering or physics
-
Has worked with imaging optics design and optics suppliers.

Familiar with lens development process with supplier and how to confirm manufacturability of the design.

Familiar with plastic injection molding.

Skills: analysis of lens specification and capabilities to understand design trade-offs.

Familiar with optical design SW (Zemax). Python and Zemax scripting programming capabilities.

Analysis of large simulation and manufacturing dataset.
-
Illumination system design and analysis is a plus.

Self-initiative, team-oriented, cooperative, flexible, takes others into account.

Fluent English, Finnish is a plus
