Pre-Commissioning Engineer, Frequent travel

About the role

As a Commissioning Engineer, you will manage the onsite testing and validation of high-voltage power electronic systems. You will work closely with field teams and customers to ensure all systems meet performance standards and operate safely within the global grid.

Work tasks

You will be responsible for the hands-on execution of pre-commissioning and site acceptance testing for advanced power electronic systems, ensuring seamless grid integration.

  • Lead and execute site acceptance testing (SAT) for high-voltage power systems.
  • Perform hardware and system-level tests to verify design specifications.
  • Identify and also resolve hardware and software defects during the commissioning phase.
  • Act as the primary technical contact for customers during onsite walk-throughs.
  • Prepare and archive accurate test reports and compliance documentation.
  • Manage onsite task schedules and identify risks to project timelines.
  • Provide technical guidance to installation contractors and local field teams.

We are looking for

  • Advanced knowledge of electrical engineering principles.
  • Practical experience in site commissioning or field testing of STATCOM, SVC, or HVDC systems.
  • Proficiency using test equipment such as multimeters, oscilloscopes, power analyzers, and Omicron.
  • Strong ability to interpret technical schematics, circuit diagrams, and layout drawings.
  • High willingness to travel frequently to international customer sites.
  • Fluent in written and spoken English.

It is meritorious if you have

  • Proven ability to make technical decisions in fast-paced site environments.
  • Experience working independently at complex construction sites.
