 Are you excited by ultra-fast thin-film deposition and hands-on process development at the edge of what's technically possible?

At Beneq, a global leader in Atomic Layer Deposition (ALD), we're looking for a Process Development Engineer to join our ADVA Business Unit, working in the Spatial ALD team. This team is behind some of Beneq's most advanced platforms, including the C2RTM - the world's fastest commercial ALD system, delivering deposition speeds up to 20× faster than conventional ALD.

In this role, you'll be at the heart of next-generation spatial ALD process development, turning breakthrough concepts into scalable, high-performance solutions for demanding semiconductor applications worldwide.

Your Role at Beneq

As a Process Development Engineer in the Spatial ALD team, you will support the development, optimization, and implementation of high-throughput spatial ALD processes. You'll work hands-on in a cleanroom environment, design and execute experiments, analyze data, and collaborate closely with engineering, product, and customer-facing teams to push the limits of ALD speed, quality, and reliability.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan, develop, test, and optimize spatial ALD processes in line with business needs and technology roadmaps

  • Execute process validation, data analysis, and documentation of results and best practices

  • Prepare work instructions, plans, and reports for internal and customer use

  • Contribute to innovation and continuous improvement, including new materials, methods, and process concepts

  • Maintain ALD and metrology equipment and ensure a clean, safe cleanroom environment

What We're Looking For

  • University degree in Materials Science, Chemistry, Physics, or a related field is preferred

  • 3+ years of experience in cleanroom-based process development or experimental work

  • Experience in thin-film deposition, especially optical coatings or semiconductor processing; ALD experience is a strong plus

  • Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team

  • Fluent written and spoken English
