Process Engineer – Industrial Heat Pumps
Would you like to help develop industrial heat pump solutions and technologies that improve energy efficiency and reduce emissions?
We are looking for a Process Engineer to join Oilon Technology’s Heat Pump Process Design team in Vantaa or Lahti, Finland.
In this role, you will work at the heart of our industrial heat pump solutions. You will be responsible for the design and sizing of heat pump refrigeration processes and systems, while also contributing to the development, testing and validation of new technical solutions.
You will work closely with other engineering teams, suppliers, sales, production and service. The role gives you the opportunity to see the entire lifecycle of our solutions – from engineering and design to the operation of the finished system.
What will you be working on?
Key responsibilities:
- Designing and sizing refrigeration processes and systems for industrial heat pumps
- Developing new heat pump solutions and technologies
- Sizing and selecting heat exchangers, compressors, valves, piping and other system components
- Working with equipment and component suppliers and evaluating technical solutions
- Defining system control principles and functional descriptions for automation
- Participating in the testing, validation and technical documentation of heat pump systems
- Providing technical expertise and support to engineering, sales, production and service teams
The exact scope of the role can be tailored according to your experience and strengths.
What do we expect from you?
You have a relevant technical degree, for example in refrigeration, energy or process engineering, and experience in designing refrigeration systems or similar industrial process systems.
You have a solid understanding of thermodynamics and fluid mechanics, as well as experience in sizing and selecting process equipment and components. You are able to look at systems as a whole and make well-founded technical decisions even when all the information is not yet available.
We are looking for a practical, technically minded professional who enjoys engineering and problem-solving. You work independently and systematically while also enjoying collaboration with specialists from different technical disciplines.
As we operate in an international environment, you will need a good command of English. Finnish language skills are a strong advantage. The position also requires willingness to travel occasionally.
What we particularly value
You do not need to have experience in everything listed below. We consider it an advantage if you have experience in areas such as:
- Industrial refrigeration systems or heat pump design
- High-temperature heat pump solutions
- Flammable or natural refrigerants and related safety solutions
- System controls and automation
- Commissioning of heat pump or refrigeration systems
- System testing and validation
- Refrigerant and oil behaviour in refrigeration systems
- Steam generation systems, industrial boilers or other process equipment used for steam production
- PID development and engineering documentation, including the use of E3 or similar design tools
- Refrigeration and heat pump simulation software
