We at Sandvik Rock Processing are the leading supplier of equipment and services for the mining and construction industry. At our Lahti site we engineer and manufacture industry leading hydraulic hammers and other hydraulic attachments for maximum productivity. We are now focusing on developing and expanding our presence in the mining industry, aiming to drive growth and innovation in this sector.
We are looking for a forward-thinking Senior Automation Engineer to join our R&D Team, focusing on Rock Breaker Boom Systems and Mining Solutions. This is a unique opportunity to be part of a strategic initiative that will redefine how breaker boom solutions and automation technologies are developed and deployed. This position is permanent and based in Lahti, Finland. Barona Engineering is our recruitment partner for this position.
Responsibilities
Your Role
As a Senior R&D Engineer, Automation, you will lead the technology development of a new autonomous breaker system. You will take part in the development of the control software together with internal team and external development partners. You collaborate closely with Product Management, equipment suppliers and expert networks within Sandvik.
Your Profile
We’re looking for someone with vast experience in autonomous robotic systems and/or machine vision and machine learning algorithms. You have a master’s degree in engineering (automation, mechatronics, software development or related field). You have experience in automation, robotics or software development in C / C++ / Matlab / Python. You are familiar with PLC-environments (f.e. Siemens and IFM) and industrial communication buses (CAN, Profibus, etc.). You have strong communication and problem-solving skills and proactive mindset and ability to thrive in a dynamic, cross-functional environment. Fluency in English is needed in this role and Finnish language skills can be seen as an advantage. Job requires some travelling, up to 40 days per year.
