We're looking for a senior developer who is equal parts builder and architect, and is excited about AI-native development but grounded enough to know when the hype outruns the reality. You'll join a small, sharp team where the work spans from "what should we build" to "how does it run in production," and you're expected to have opinions at every step.
Our work is a mix: some genuine greenfield projects where we get to design from scratch, and existing services that need to keep evolving. AI is a daily tool, not a marketing slide. We work closely with the different business areas at Barona, and the solutions we ship are tied directly to how the company finds new opportunities and runs more smoothly.

Responsibilities

Designing and building modern, event-driven service solutions with AI, and the supporting plumbing (RAG, retrieval pipelines, orchestration, evals) to make AI useful in production

Owning problems end-to-end: from conversations with business stakeholders, through architecture and tech decisions, into implementation

Using AI tools as a core part of how you develop and helping us figure out how to use them better

Shaping our development processes, not just executing within them

Working hands-on with the rest of the team to keep our architecture coherent as we grow
What we're looking for

Solid software development background: backend strength is essential, comfort across the stack is a plus

Genuine interest in AI-native development. Realistic about the rough edges, excited about what's actually possible. We've built AI-native processes already and want someone who'll help us push them further without sacrificing code quality or system integrity.

Independent problem-solving and the ability to zoom out. Modern development means understanding the business case, not just the ticket, and being able to talk fluently with the people on the business side.

Ownership mindset. We don't want someone who closes tickets and waits for the next one. We want someone who is part of the solution from planning to production, who shows up to architecture discussions with opinions, and who pushes back when something doesn't make sense.

Fluent in English. Finnish is a plus, not required.

The stack evolves, but the spine is event-driven AWS:

Cloud & infra: AWS — ECS, Lambda, SNS/SQS at the core. Azure knowledge (identity, B2C) is a plus.

AI in development & products: Claude and Claude Code as our daily drivers for coding; Workato and Copilot Studio as orchestrators for AI-powered workflows; along with many other tools
